It is the intent of Redwood Coast Regional Center to ensure that the provision of services and supports are centered on the individual and family of the individual with a developmental disability. RCRC assists persons with developmental disabilities and their families in securing those services and supports which maximize opportunities and choices for living, working, learning, traveling, and recreating in the community. Further, Redwood Coast Regional Center recognizes the ongoing contributions of parents and family members to the support and well-being of their children and relatives with developmental disabilities. It is the intent of Redwood Coast Regional Center that the importance of those relationships be respected and fostered.

The Lanterman Developmental Disabilities Services Act provides the base upon which all services to Californians with developmental disabilities is established. These services are varied and include the following:

Community Services

Administration

PREVENTION SERVICES:

Regional center collaborates with families and various community agencies to deliver services through the California Early Start Program. This program provides services to your child, birth to age three, if he or she shows delay in development, or whose genetic, medical or environmental history is predictive of a greater risk of developmental disability than that of the general population. Services include genetic counseling and prenatal diagnostics; interagency case management; medical, developmental and nutritional assessment and consultation; and services that are purchased to lessen developmental disabilities.

DIRECT SERVICE:

Regional center staff always work personally with you and your family to help you obtain the services that you need. If you believe that you or your family member may have a developmental disability, direct service staff perform comprehensive assessments and provide diagnoses to determine eligibility for regional center services. This staff works individually with you and your family or guardian and other persons who are significant in your life, to formulate a Person Centered Plan (Individual Program Plan or IPP). Direct service staff help to design the Plan to specifically fit your particular needs and are charged with seeing that the plan is kept up to date with your preferences and life changes.
